Argaka Overflow

Post by Dominic »

This morning we read a news article which said the Argaka Dam was overflowing. We recently visited Argaka to help clean the nature trail, so we were keen to see what it looked like when full...

Read the article and chat about it below...

Another smashing blog, Dom, not to mention another series of great photos, thanks!

It's good to see that at least one of the reservoirs is full again. Fingers crossed for the rest of them...

Yes, it's amazing how quickly the flora and fauna recover from wild fires, as your photos show, thanks to Mother Nature!

Great blog Dominic fabulous photography..........fingers crossed that more rain will fill up the dams
Summer tourists miss out on the Beauty of Cyprus this time of year and how the scenery differs so much from the heat of July/August it’s hard to believe how the island greens up......

Oh and that car dump is closed on saturdays. We drove past it on the way back. :)

Nice photos of the area which was my home for many years in the past.

If people are interested: Argaka Dam is connected with Evretou Dam via various conveyance pipelines and clever systems which one can find in the forest before Argaka Dam. In Winter the water would flow only by gravity from there to Evretou dam, while in Summer conversely Argaka Dam will be fed. So when the pipe system which is in work at the moment to connect Evretou Dam with Asprokremnos Dam, in future Argaka water will fed also the needs of Paphos town....
