IPT -Abolished?
IPT -Abolished?
Hi
Has this been abolished? Just settling some bills and realised that I can’t recall getting the bills last October as in previous years.
Thanks
Jon

Re: IPT -Abolished?
Yes state IPT has been discontinued, you still need to pay (much lower) local IPT though. In Tala this amounts to less than 20 Euros. A.
Re: IPT -Abolished?
Are you sure Lofos about the IPT charge in Tala? I have to pay mine in Kili and it was more than a hundred, from memory. Still less than when paid to the Govt.

Re: IPT -Abolished?
Yes. Just paid it last week. Used to be 12 Euros each (my wife and I have 50% each of the deeds) and this year it was 8 Euros each. Cannot understand how things always seem to get cheaper here...

Re: IPT -Abolished?
Mine was €18 in Tala for 2017. Dee I think you must be confusing it with the annual refuse/community charge. The IPT is separate from that and there is no bill issued for it. You have to present your title deeds (or previous receipt) at your Communal board or Municipality who will then make the necessary charge. I've never known these to be more than about €20.

Re: IPT -Abolished?
In Anarita a bill for IPT about €8.00 was sent in about August with a last payment date of the end of the year at the same time as a water bill was delivered. Otherwise what Lofos-Jan has posted is correct
Re: IPT -Abolished?
I agree with the above, you only need to pay the "Municipal" part of the IPT, ours was 20 euros! Unfortunately, non-receipt of a bill is no defence in Cyprus & you may get lumped with a late payment penalty if you haven't paid by the due date!

Re: IPT -Abolished?
Isn't the IPT calculated based on the value as per 2013, so of course most people pay different amounts.

Re: IPT -Abolished?
Does anyone living in Tremithousa pay this as we don't know anything about it.
Thank you
Thank you
Re: IPT -Abolished?
Even after the reduction, isn't that a bit high when considering that Anarita, the next municipality towards Paphos from you, charges less than €10 for a 3 bedroom villa with pool. Wasn't there a story going around that Kouklia was charging expats more than locals for similar properties. I apologise if I am wrong on this, though.Happy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2018 2:16 am Although wife and I were originally billed €53.36 each by Koukli Council, we received an email late in the day to say the figure had been revised downwards by 20% to €42.69 each. The email said:
"Due to the increase οn the Property Tax, as the properties are now valued based in the values of 2013, Kouklia Community Council, decided a 20% reduction on the 2017 Property Tax".
Re: IPT -Abolished?
I think this depends upon the terms of the individual contract of sale of the property. It is possible that the 'owner' becomes liable upon handover of the property.Happy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2018 10:29 am Tremigirl, I think I'm correct in saying that this is a tax you will only pay after you have received your Title Deeds, if that explains anything.
Re: IPT -Abolished?
Tremithousa doesn't charge. I went and asked Fanoulla in the council office when we got our deeds and she told me they don't charge it.
Re: IPT -Abolished?
I didn’t know that there was local IPT as well, however small it might be. I’ve only ever settled the IPT bills I’ve received via JCC. I guess I’ll need to pop up to the Peyia municipality when I am next out in March!
Re: IPT -Abolished?
Thank you Darrow. Think we are so lucky to have such a good Muktar in Tremithousa.
Chris and Fanoula are so nice and very helpful.
Would like to wish them and their families and everyone in Tremithousa
A Very Happy New Year.

Thank you Happy in Cyprus.
Yes we have our Title Deeds but apparently we don't pay this IPT in Tremithousa.
Happy New Year to you and your family.

Re: IPT -Abolished?
At the municipality offices in Peyia you can organise to receive all bills emanating from Peyia Municipality via email. Then you can pay these bills via JCCSmart, whether you are in Cyprus or not.

Re: IPT -Abolished?
There are no bills issued for this local IPT so even if you sign up to get bills by email you will only get the water bills and the refuse bill.
I have no idea why they don't send bills out for the local IPT and normally you only get to hear about it via word of mouth

Re: IPT -Abolished?
Went and paid water and council taxes late on last year at Tala, they never mentioned IPT, although a few years ago they asked and we paid.
Therefore we were not sure if it had been stopped.
