Pharma firms to invest over £1bn in Manchester and London

Post by Dominic »

So it isn't all doom and gloom in a post Brexit Britain...

_____

Two pharmaceutical firms have said they will invest more than £1bn in the UK, creating hundreds of new jobs.

MSD, known as Merck in North America, will support a new research centre in London creating around 950 new posts.

Germany's Qiagen will expand its investment in a genomics and diagnostics campus in Manchester.

The government said these biotech deals illustrated confidence in its industrial strategy, which it published on Monday.

Business Secretary Greg Clark said: "People don't make the investments of this scale that are for the long term if they don't have the confidence that we are building in this country a very attractive base".

Ah but Lloyd people have become worn out posting many many good news stories which you conveniently ignore each and every time. Which is why most of tend to ignore your doom laden ramblings.

Hudswell, thanks for those. Interesting reading. Jimmy, I haven't seen good news stories being posted at all. In fact, Hudswell's are the first I recall as proper ones.

I hope these articles are correct, Some of it at present is speculation and hope, but from hope comes progress. I truly hope Brexit does work out better than I have thought. My biggest problem at present, is the Cabinet. May, Davis, Gove, Johnson, Fox and Hammond are a bunch of wallies, in my opinion.

I don't see anything better on the labour benches. Politics in the UK is sadly missing the heavyweights of the past.

That's very true. As a child I could probably name quite a few of the cabinet and the shadow cabinet. These days they are all faceless non-entities. Apart from the clowns.

Here’s a wee scenario....

IF all Brexit voters and Remain voters, were to have their passports marked thus, and we have a hard brexit, what about a fictional scenario that only Remain voters could remain in other EU countries? Fun dream or nightmare....
