Wipe The Memory Of A Laptop.

Post by Firefly »

MOH has now taken over my old laptop, but we don't know how to wipe the memory. I cannot remember my password when I first set up the laptop, so it's proving to be a pain.

Please can anyone point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Jackie

I hope this does not sound harsh, it is not meant to. But maybe it would be best to take it to a computer shop.

Yes Trev, you're right, but if someone sells a used laptop, there must be a way to clear the memory.

Jackie knowing you now live in the UK maybe best to get your OP system reinstalled at a PC shop near you, I have just had one of my PC reinstalled with Win 10.1 and the local cost was €50 at SOS, no good for you though.

I always recommend using Ccleaner, (link provided) it is a free application and I use mine every other day to clean out old files and recent memory, well worth doing.

Allesley

Thank you for your advice.

I do use Ccleaner myself, but in spite of unticking the username boxes, it still wipes them all. I find it frustrating to have to put them all back in again.

Ccleaner.

Jackie I agree with the password and log on, you did say though you wished to wipe all memory from your laptop correct?

Tutorials if you are up to doing it, I wasn't!

Jim, and I hope your keeping well.

Thank you, and yes it was indeed to wipe all memory, but due to circumstances, we have gone down another route now. I know next to nothing about computers, it's a bit like, 'I'm not a mechanic, but I can drive a car'

Yes I'm fine thank you, you obviously know me, please pm me.

Thanks, Jackie
