Looks like pouring petrol on the flames to me. I doubt they will get away with it.

If it legally belongs to Cyprus, then they have every right to claim it, like every other nation would.
I started a thread, called Cyprus Gas, check it out it shows the worlds second largest lift platform off Larnaca, getting ready to build the rigs, Turkey said they would never allow it, how is that threat, going?????

The Republic of Cyprus claims legal rights over the whole of the Island - but that doesn't mean they will get it.WHL wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2017 8:36 pm If it legally belongs to Cyprus, then they have every right to claim it, like every other nation would.

Regards Turkey's threat (as you call it) I would be careful about how you phrase your comments about that - Turkey seems to have a Leader on a par with Trump and Putin! Unpredictable and so dangerous.
What would you say, for example, if overnight Turkey invaded the rest of Cyprus? Who would, who could, stop them?
In this Region anything can happen and often does. In my country (Israel) we have had more than our fair share of threats, not to mention missile attacks.
When was the last time UK had missile attacks? V1 and V2 rockets in 1944 I think.

Funnily enough, aren't Israel in dispute with Lebanon over maritime borders for the same reasons, ie potential gas reserves & who owns them?

My nephew works in South America on the drilling sites. He told me at the weekend that his company was expecting to win a huge contract for Cyprus as the drilling and handling off-shore is tricky, But they have the technology, that many other companies dont.

If you think Turkeys Dictator Erdogan, is stupid enough to carry out his thread to bomb the oil rigs owned by French an Americans, then theres not much to discuss.exodus wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2017 1:20 pmWell it has not happened yet, but who is to say it never will?WHL wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2017 9:25 amThe Republic of Cyprus does have legal right over the whole of the Island, who says so.....the UN ..the EU and every other International body..,,the Turkish Dictator, vowed to stop any drilling by Cyprus or her partners, please remind us how that worked out?.exodus wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2017 7:08 am
