Emergency Information for Monarch Customers.

Post by Dominic »

Monarch Airline has gone into administration. This is a pinned thread with information for people who may be affected.

From the BBC:
(Full Story)
Customers in the UK yet to travel: Don't go to the airport

Customers abroad
: Everyone due to fly in the next fortnight will be brought back to the UK at no cost to them. There is no need to cut short a stay

Customers currently overseas should check monarch.caa.co.uk for confirmation of their new flight details - which will be available a minimum of 48 hours in advance of their original departure time

All affected customers should keep checking monarch.caa.co.uk for more information

The CAA also has a 24-hour helpline: 0300 303 2800 from the UK and Ireland and +44 1753 330330 from overseas

If you have any useful information to add that is relevent to people in Cyprus waiting to fly back to the UK, then please post it here.

For general discussion on the issue, please use the other thread on the forum. I want to keep this thread short and sweet so people can find information quickly.

We're due to fly back on the 17th, the day after the CAA chartered operation expires. Although flight only we do have a valid ATOL certificate so it will be interesting to see how they fly us home. Their website assures us that they will fly us home. We would be prepared to fly back early if it were to help but there doesn't appear to be any way of letting them know this as they phone is strictly for passenger's with 48 hours before their due flight.

Photo Lady, thank you. There is a key sentence on that page that is actually buried quite deep amongst all the information on their website and I had missed it. I think it should be in their FAQ's section but isn't.

We are now 'repatriated', sadly, as the weather is horrible!

Because we were outside the 2 week 'shadow airline' period we were treated individually. The CAA rang us 2 days prior to our scheduled departure and offered us a couple of options of a flight to Manchester or Gatwick. As we departed from Birmingham the Manchester option was the best but didn't arrive until 2am. The ATOL agreement is that they will then transfer you to your departure airport meaning we would have got to Birmingham about 3:30 / 4:00, however as we had gone to Birmingham by taxi and didn't have our car there they arranged a taxi to our home in Derby. Presumably, if there had been more than just us two as ex-Monarch passengers they would have bussed us to Birmingham as per the agreement, but as Derby is closer it worked out better all round.

In summary, a big well done to the CAA.

Good news indeed 😊

Friends of ours were in Portugal due back last Thursday but unsure if they would be returned directly to Manchester, being their original departure point. They received info a couple of days before of the timings but no airport details. However, the evening before, they were told the flight was indeed going directly to Manchester so it all worked out very well for them.

It appears everything has gone pretty smoothly during the UK repatriations, which is very reassuring as it's possible there may be others to follow in the future...
