Paphos archive fire under control

Post by memory man »

A fire which broke out in the archives of the technical services of the Paphos municipality on Friday morning is fully under control.

The fire, which broke out in the basement of the building on Ellados avenue in the centre of Paphos, was contained by the fore department and spread no further but employees had to be evacuated because of dense fumes.

Two fire trucks were employed to extinguish the blaze.

Police officers and firefighter are at the scene to determine the cause. Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was caused by a short circuit.

* The comments are interesting!!

Predictable, more than interesting. It's easy to throw around accusations behind an anonymous account on a website thoughh.

Agree, I never cease to be amazed by the number of disgruntled ex-pats who scribe sarcastic, venomous posts underneath each and every Cyprus Mail article, all trying to out-smart each other in their attempts at black humour. I really wonder why they continue to live here if they're that disillusioned.
My thoughts exactly, they must have very sad empty lives,..I know one thing if I lived in a country I hated so much.. I would be on the next flight back to the UK....its the same usual people all the time.

Just because it's flaws are pointed out...and there are many as with most countries, it does not mean the are disillusioned with the place. Recently the papers have been full of news of apparent fraud, malpractice and dishonesty....the Mayor Of Paphos is a leading light in exposing it and hopefully bringing those guilty to justice. Now if you don't think that the fire is just a tad suspicious then fine, carry on wearing those rose tinted glasses, ignore the crime, the corruption, the violence...because of course it doesn't effect your cosy little lifestyle it's not there is it?
No lectures needed about trolls..especially from you.. ;) .
