Recommendations for a restaurant for a special meal!

Post by Suetal »

Hi
Both myself and my friend celebrating birthdays at end of the month, so a special meal is in order!
Can anyone recommend a restaurant who does quality over quantity and more of a "fine dining" expierence in the harbour/Kato Paphos area, cost isn't an issue as long as its justified!
Thanks in advance

Hi
Thanks for the replies
Yes, have been to Tweedies a few times and yes it's very good, however was thinking of spending a night over in the harbour area hence my request for a restaurant in that area.
Thanks anyway

Both these suggestions come with very high (and recent) recommendations, and both have nice sea views.

The Sienna Restaurant is half way from Paphos and Coral Bay, on the left, between the Azia and Helios Bay hotels.

The Romantica Restauarant is next door to the Aloe Hotel on Poseidonos (same side, with Alexander the Great Hotel opposite to the right). It's reviews are excellent, and it's a popular choice for wedding receptions. Walking distance from the harbour, perhaps along the coastal walk (to work up an appetite, LOL!). Exit left after AtG then Romantica is the other side of Poseidonos to your right.

Wherever you decide to eat, enjoy your birthdays both of you! Cheers- AL :)

Al, whilst I'm sure Suetal appreciates your Trip Advisor research I think she's perfectly capable of doing this herself and actually wants personal recommendations.
Sadly you're not in a position to do so.
Have to say Suetal I rather like Bacchus or if you're pushing the boat out Theos on the hatbour...both touristy I know but personally I've always had good meals there. And they're both in harbour area as requested.

No one else seems to have been to Gabors, but it is a good special occasion restaurant. It's smaller and sometimes quieter, and the food and service were very good when we went there. It's just down the road from Amphora Suites.
Also in that area is Cavalini, a long established Italian Restaurent, also has very nice food and good service. Though no sea view, but very close to it. Both these restaurents are smaller and much less touristy.it would be wise to book in advance.

Oh, sorry Miss... I'll get back in my cupboard, then...

These ARE personal recommendations, but in order not to upset "You haven't been here since 2008" faction on PL, I made sure to include up to date reviews on both my suggestions!

Don't worry, I'm getting the drift on here regarding my posts. That sharing 30 years of Paphos memories means nothing to anyone now. How sad...

We've been to Gabor's a few times. Excellent French cuisine, very good service, a good wine list and I would recommend a visit if you've never been before. It's above Tea for Two.

As a suggestion for the future, if you want to recommend a place you went to,check on Trip Advisor to make sure it hasn't turned into a dive, then post something like this:

I used to like Bert's Bacon Butties when I was wining and dining.... text praising the bacon.... I have checked on Trip Advisor and they are still looking good.

There's no need to post links to Tripadvisor reviews. All that does is drive traffic away from this site. People can find it on there themselves perfectly happily.

And if Al does that, there is no need for anybody else to make sarky comments about his data not being current, is there?

Sorry, Dominic- our posts collided.

As Admin, can you not set PL board default to 'open link in new window' ??? So original PL page remains...

I can, with the two boards I help with (both of which have sunk into hibernation, sadly)- AL :)

No, it isn't. I was trying to be helpful though and add something constructive.

I figured as such, no worries.

I could set that, but then it becomes a pain for other threads where I wouldn't want it to happen.

The thing is, you saying "I have checked on Trip Advisor..." is perfectly adequate. There is no need to go the extra mile. I don't object to links to obscure stuff on sites that people wouldn't find, or news sites etc. But just about everybody knows how Trip Advisor works already.

None whatsoever and I really wish he could get himself back over again as he's so obviously passionate about Paphos.
It'll be a bit of a shock in some areas but lots still the same. :)
