Firefighters battling blaze in Paphos district

Post by memory man »

A fire broke out at around 10.30am in an inaccessible area between the villages of Skoulli and Kato Akourdalia in Paphos on Sunday. Firefighters were still battling the blaze nearly three hours later.

According to the fire service, there are seven firefighting vehicles and 20 firefighters from the Polis Chrysochous station and the Peyia and Strumbi rural brigades in the area.

Also, two other firefighting vehicles from Limassol stations are heading there, CNA reported, along with two aircraft and a police helicopter.

They had both helicopters and planes out dropping water. They seemed to be getting the water from the Evretou Reservoir. I don't know how the planes got their water though.

The helicopters were out at seven this morning; they were flying until nearly 8pm last night. They must still be either still trying to contain or damp down the fires mentioned.

We have been hearing the Helicopters for a while. I can't see any smoke so I thought they were damping down..
