Re: English TV
Have you tried Google, Jill??
If you search for Internet options in Paphos you will get a list of different providers. You must have internet in order to receive BRITISH TV channels.
You will then require some kind of "box" in order to stream the different channels. It is not live!! Again, there are a number of options.
But, first you need to install the internet.

Re: English TV
You can use a laptop, Jill. That is one option.
You can also purchase a "black box" device that will receive streamed TV channels. There are several options available. The box sits between your TV and your internet router. It is pre-set with the various TV and film options.
For example.......
I use the Zoomtak box thst I purchased from Triotech in Paphos. I can receive all the British TV channels plus films plus TV box sets plus catchup TV plus sport, British and many others plus a whole variety of other options. I can use this box in ANY location, Cyprus or UK, provided that I have a good enough internet connection. Wireless or wifi will not do, it has to be hard wired.

Also.....
If you go back to the main Board Inex on here and look for the Technology section, you will find plenty of advice on there.

I think that has answered one of my questions too (sadly)William Morris wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2017 11:00 am Wireless or wifi will not do, it has to be hard wired.
Re: English TV
i asked much the same questions a couple of months ago. based on the advice I got then I installed internet from Cyta (10 mgb) and then got a MAG set top box system. I got mine from ComputerSOS but there are many other providers. So far I am 100% satisfied.
Re: English TV
WE use a Zoomtak box outside, and it is wireless. The only wiring is power and HDMI to the TV

Re: English TV
Apologies, yes, you are correct. It can indeed be used wireless.
Will also accept 2 usb inputs and a sd card for external displays such as photos or movies or music input.
Re: English TV
I tried using wifi with my set top box,a triotech one. I did not find this type of connection satisfactory. So I had it hard wired with an immediate improvement in reliability.

Some people of course have to have Wireless internet as they have no phone lines

Re: English TV
Fully agree, as regards hard wiring via good quality CAT5 ethernet cables. This is how I have my home LAN set up, and it all works superbly for me.
But don't forget that you can buy Wi-Fi 300N Access Points for around a tenner. These simply plug into a convenient ring main socket close to where your want the magic TV box to be. You can then locally hard wire the two together with a CAT5 cable. Setup is dead easy, and your router 'sees' this device as a kind of extension of itself...
Only a suggestion (and expecting to be shot down in flames)
Cheers- AL

Re: English TV
We manage quite well with a Mag box, a laptop and a desktop running. At busy times we need sometimes to just have the mag box on especially if the program we want is only in HD
We also utilise the ring main wiring in the wall to save having a cable trailing from the router to the TV box
