Easyjet

Post by P-villas »

We are travelling with Easyjet for the first time next week, I believe they require max cabin bag size 54x45x25 with no weight limit, anyone know how strict they are with these size cabin bags at Paphos ( hopefully we'll be lighter on the return journey ) and is there anything else we should know. Any tips will be much appreciated.

It depends on how the staff decide to be on the day, usually it is not a problem. If your cabin bag is over size you should make sure that any valuables can be quickly removed, just in case they decide to put it in the hold, and carry a spare padlock to secure it if they do

It is actually 56 X 45 X 25. Those 2 CMS might make a difference! Plus if you have paid for up front or more legroom you are allowed to take an under the seat bag of 45 X 36 x 20 CMS.

Never had a problem with cabin baggage but, if you don't have speedy boarding, I would advise you to try and get on before the crowds. So many people take hand luggage now that there often isn't enough room in the overhead lockers and late boarders risk having their bags taken off of them. Or you can often find your bag will be shoved in somewhere no where near your seat.

I've never travelled with EasyJet without the speedy boarding which is included if you sit in the front fews rows, they do have separate check in at Paphos, if not go early........
It's not ideal to have your hand luggage away from were you are sitting .......if this happens ensure it's locked
Paphos airport do have check at times on size, if it's over it will go into the hold.

re the 'no weight limit' for cabin baggage on easyJet, you must be personally fit and able enough to place the case in the overhead locker yourself (yourselves), and grab them back out after landing.

But there are often young and super-fit passengers (like me) in the surrounding seats willing to give you a hand at both ends of the journey. Try not to think about the possible fact that the pilot is a young 20 year old lad or lass flying their first round trip with real passengers on board with easyJet, on the right seat in the cockpit...

There's a real Captain sitting in the left seat, ready to take over, if things suddenly go pear-shaped! (Turbulence, wind shear, thunderstorms, high cross winds on landing, etc)

Cheers- AL :)

We used to do speedy boarding but stopped paying that when you could just pre book your seats and take your time without the hassle knowing our seats were already sorted, I know you still pay but just a minimal fee and well worth it.

True, but if it's busy you're not always able to get your bags in the overhead lockers. At least with speedy boarding you're able to board first & be sure of a space. Last time we flew out of Paphos there were some really big bags allowed on but I think it depends on the time of year.

Cabin bag size appears to be more of a problem at uk airports not the paphos end, last time I used them in May they were checking bag sizes in Luton but no more than a glance in Paphos. 8-)
I started off with nothing and have most of it left !

With speedy boarding there is also a separate security lane

People were ducking under the barrier into the Speedy Boarding Lane in the pens outside at Paphos on the flight to Manchester a couple of weeks ago; ended up more Speedy Boarders than ordinary travellers.

Flying from Cyprus was never a problem - bags never measured. One time and purely by accident, I took the wrong "small" suitcase with me as cabin baggage. It went in the hold free of charge at Larnaca because the flight was pretty full and we were already checking in one suitcase between us of 18kg.

Coming back from Liverpool to Larnaca was a different story altogether - the staff were asking everyone with carry on bags to put them in the 2 baggage measuring systems. Your bag has to drop in without being forced in and if it doesn't fit, you will be required to pay and check it in.

I learned my lesson well there - and now I always double check I have the correct small suitcase with me! That's what happens when you buy matching sets :-(

A lot of the so-called 'measuring frames' for hand baggage checks at UK airports are totally wrong and not exactly legal. Their tubular structure has rounded corners, preventing your legal sized cabin bag from fitting in...

This issue has been raised many times on mainstream TV docs, but it's still going on. They want to nab you at the gate, then charge a fortune on your credit card, to put it in the hold at the last minute! Other times, they'll say that cabin baggage is full, and your case can go in the hold for free!

You couldn't make it up if you tried, could you? Cheers- AL :?

This kind of pettiness is what annoys me about EJ! Or the pracise at Paphos to call passengers to the departure gate far too early, when they are using the same gate for another flight in front of you! On one occasion I wondered if anyone had got on the wrong aircraft by mistake! Once you actually get on board the kindness of the cabin crew make up for what has been previously suffered by some 'jobs worth' among the ground staff!

We just put our bags under the seats in front, because we took just enough to be able to do that😉
Hence no need to look for lockers above.

Ten years of planning, coming over 4 times a year, 40 flights here and our last two suitcases for the hold were just underweight, each flight the suitcases were full with all sorts of stuff we wanted over here and that includes the two bags under the seats.
Now over here with all our bits and bats and never have to put up with that again thank goodness 😅

When we first started couldn't wait to fly but with there and back in ten years that is 80 flights in all and we were getting sick of it, now all done and dusted and live in our place in the sun.
Enjoyed every second of the hot summer and hope for many more years of it.

Both of my suitcases have rounded edges so I couldn't try and lay the blame on that.... this was entirely my fault, I packed the wrong sky blue suitcase - but because it wasn't checked at the LCA end of our journey I had no idea until we were flying back home to Cyprus

I saw this uncontrolled cheating at Schonefield in Berlin recently.

This was my experience in June at Pafos. Complete confusion by all & it certainly slowed down the boarding! Stupid

That has nothing to do with Easyjet.

It is the ground crew that manage the gates.
