Yes, enjoyed the programme. Gave me a warm glow as my best friends son has recently started a a first officer with EJ after transferring from another airline and completing his type rating on the Airbus a couple of months ago.

Thanks for the heads up, Lloyd. My Daughter and I will watch this on ITV catchup on her iPad tablet, courtesy of my Virgin Media 200Mbps fibre broadband service, this evening. Good thing about ITV catchup is that it nukes all the ADs!

Have also marked the next and final episodes, 21/8 and 28/8, on my office calendar, to watch live (if I can stay up that late- 9pm UK time, LOL!).

Strangely, I have a VM Tivo cable box that probably records all this kind of stuff for me, in glorious HD. But I've never been really arsed to use it. It just sits there in Standby mode, in order to keep their red N3 CAM card and firmware updated, doh...

Daughter and I have just watched it (AD free) and what a breath-taking white-knuckle ride it was! One of the best documentaries we have viewed in a long long time. Cannot wait until 9pm (BST) on Mon 21 Aug for episode 2 of 3 on ITV, when I'll sadly have to endure the ADs..

Yep, me too, Trev. I signed up for ITV Catchup only to find it's now called ITV Hub. Watched a bit of that first EJ episode again and booger! It has full length ADs! Won't even let me watch it if I have AdBlockerPlus enabled in FF, either!

Is there a better (AD-free) link I can use to watch it tomorrow, pls?

It seems to me that it depends on the time of day as to how many ads you get. We watch Corrie at lunchtime and usually only have to sit through one ad. That is on the hub in the UK. In Cyprus, on our clearstream box, no ads.

Many years ago (in the late 1990s) me and one of my colleagues often travelled from Manchester to Palma / Alicante / Faro and Larnaca airports regularly each weekend in the cockpit on Air2000 flights. Our company paid for the privilege of us taking time out of our weekends to fly to these airports to collect "lost luggage".

These airports would not allow luggage to be transferred back to the UK as unaccompanied baggage. The passengers had paid a search fee and once located, we would wait until we had a few other bags to collect and then go out and bring them back. Most times, we literally arrived at the destination airport, disembarked the plane, collected, scanned, security cleared and checked in the bags with time for a quick run through the Duty Free shop before climbing back aboard for sunny Manchester.

Each of the Captains had to give us their permission and clearance to fly in the jump seats with them, especially if there were no spare seats in the main cabin. Sometimes, we would be in the cabin for takeoff and landing then transferring into the cockpit once we reached the designated altitude. However, the majority of the time we were in for both the takeoff and landing at either end....

We got to know certain Captains and one of those was the first UK female Captain to fly for Air2000 - a lovely lady who we became great friends with and meeting up with her several times when she came out on holiday after we came to live in Cyprus. It turned out she was learning to fly at Barton Aerodrome at the same time my colleagues' son was also taking his flying lessons. Sadly, her boyfriend was killed in a plane crash at the same airfield some years before she gained her own Captains' wings.

Our flights were always a fab experience and most often we arrived back in Manchester in the evening which meant we saw the city lit up beautifully as we approached for landing.

Unfortunately, flying in the cabin after that became quite mundane and although I still love flying, I find it somewhat boring these days..... and then 9/11 put paid to our weekend jaunts but not before we got the odd overnight stays at Portugal and a glorious full day in Benidorm during one of the Fiesta weekends in November.

I haven't had chance to watch the EasyJet programmes yet but will watch it on The Hub once we've finished the TV series that started last night "The State" on Channel 4. Has anyone watched it yet?

Yes, like Jules, I have also flown many times on the 'jump seat' on different aircraft. Mainly with my late husband who had a long career as both an RAF and a civilian pilot of commercial passenger aircraft. The largest of those was a Boeing 747, jumbo. It was a great experience and I was fascinated by the expertise and skill of all the pilots who I met. When everything was going well it looked like an easy job,but at times when the weather was bad or there was an aircraft malfunction, was when a pilots experience and the ability to make quick descisions made all the difference in averting a possible disaster. But I have wonderful memories of flying into Hong Kong at night and of flying over Australia en route to Sydney as the red sun cane over the horizon when dawn broke after a long night flight..
Sadly all this came to an end after 9/11 and the 'open door' to the flight deck became a thing of the past.

It used to be a great thrill for children to go and sit in the Pilot's seat during flights, sadly, no more.

Yes, Alan it was. Most Captains would allow accompanied children to visit to the flight deck during the cruise when all was quiet. I wonder how many little boys were inspired to become pilots in their turn? Maybe even little girls!

My stepson was allowed in the cockpit when he travelled with us on holiday to Portugal. The Captain knew we were on board and he let him go in on the landing with my husband. Tom was 11yrs old at the time and was absolutely thrilled to bits.

He later fancied joining the RAF but his mum and her new husband moved to Australia so Tom is now serving with the Australian navy. We both feel he's probably a lot safer there than in the RAF, although he has been out on a 6 month tour to the middle east and since then has chased a fair few pirates.

Anytime now he will be leaving his ship on paternity leave for approx. 8 weeks for the arrival of his first child and will then be flown out to Japan in order to join back up with his ship on its' next tour.

Was the final 3/3 episode broadcast on ITV last Monday 28th Aug at 2100 BST / 2300 EET? Or was this postponed on account of it having being August Bank Holiday here in UK?

Just checked the ITV Hub to play catchup, but all that's available on easyJet- Inside the Cockpit is still episode 2/3 from Mon 21 Aug...
