Topographic Survey

Post by boomboom »

We have someone interested in the purchase of our property who is asking for this survey.
Not having heard of this before, regarding a residential dwelling, has any members had
this previously requested?
If so are there specialists in Paphos area that can carry this out and at what cost?
Can this information be available at the Land Registry offices.

In the UK when a topographic survey is done it is normally done on behalf of the developer by a drilling company or similar to define what is beneath the land that the properties are to be built on, In my area it could be anything from clay to rock to shifting silver sand - If such a search is done on Cyprus before properties are built i would imagine that a copy should be available from the developer of the site and probably at a cost.

We had a topographical survey done and the reason was to determine the boundaries of the land.

The problem was that is was not just our land that had to be checked but many of the surrounding plots as well. There was certainly nothing like soil sample taken. Al the data was plotted out and put on a map, and also we got a disc with all the information on
Sadly I cannot remember how much it cost at the time

Absolutely correct Trev - All of this comes under topography and really depends on the definition what you are describing is topographic mapping - which you i believe had done yourself because of the self build - If the plot in question is a developers land then the developers should know the boundaries of each plot and what each property is built on.

There can of course be problems with Boundaries. In our case our neighbour lost about 3 mts of land all along his plot. It was assumed that an old hedge marked the division between two plots.. Our neighbour was (understandably perhaps) not happy about this and put in a letter complaining to the Land office. They came out and re-marked the boundary lines, and they were exactly the same as our Private Topographer had marked.
He was still not happy but his last recourse was to go to court, but he did not take that next step..

You may have on plan so many sq mts, either 100's or 1,000's. And may have edges of a plot of a length. A.. B.. C.. and D. But is the plot on plan in EXACTLY the right place. :-)

Trev- do you mean a 3m strip of land all along the boundary, or 3 square metres in total?

Cheers- AL :?

Hi, we used this chap, very professional. From what I remember he gets the cadastral plans with GPS points from the land registry, then checks them at your property that all is correct. I think he charges something like 25 euros per post marked using GPS.

I can make enquiries to find the guy who did ours but it might take a few days. He is a government surveyor but does a bit on the side...so to speak. He works in the property offices for Paphos. He charged me about 300euros 3 years ago. He produced drawing in English although one neighbour was months late in payment, so got his in Greek. :)
Many thanks Termites Dream.
Was the €300 the total cost for you and the neighbours?
If you could forward the guys details it would be much appreciated

You can also get a lot of information on your plot using the online cadastral viewer..

I thought that on the cadastral viewer. Then as was working my way from the TOTK towards Coral Bay, I noticed that Aliceland restaurant doesn't appear to be on the "map". It's been there 20 years, so I wonder why not?
