Bad smell from your air-con? DIY solution....

Post by cyprusmax47 »

As we have since 2 weeks or so scorching weather conditions, many people decide finally to use their air-con even when they don't like it. After a long period of standstill or with old units, which are need cleaning I found today a very cheap solution. I had the impression that my air-con was blowing a sour smell which is not only unpleasant but also unhealthy. So I went to town and bought a spray solution called : air clean, Air conditioner cleaner with antibacterial action, for only 7 Euro (produced in Germany) from Sozos company. I removed the filters and sprayed them with the solution and sprayed also onto the evaporation coil which lays just behind the filter pads. After rinsing the filter pads with water I put them back in position and started the air-con on cooling mode, running it on 23 c for 1 hour in order to drain away any residue. That was it. It perfumes now pleasantly the space and no bad smell anymore.

Legionares disease comes from the shitty water tanks up on the roof (or in lofts here in UK), NOT from your sealed A/C units, mouse!

Please trust me on this... Cheers- AL :)
