Delicious dessert Lidl's Italien week...

Post by cyprusmax47 »

As I am a italophile and shopping at Lidl's today (Italien week offers) I bought two different delicious desserts. One is a kind mousse of chocolate called
Chocolate Tartufo Dessert, the other one Pistachio & Chocolate Dessert in a large tray. I have a very sweet tooth so I tried them both for lunch together with a nice Whisky (soaked in) instead of savory. This came only today into the shelves with a delay, as I was already shopping Wednesdays not to miss anything and it was not there only in their catalogue. Very sweet, very heavy, very delicious for me. ( Calories? I did not even look)  I am wondering what to do with the leftover.

I was in the TOTK branch and found it on the back end shelfs on the left hand side. (both types in the same carton)

We're on Moroccan, Turkish and Middle Eastern offers here in UK.

We came home today with Harissa, Tahini, Efes, Falafel and Kofta - amongst numerous other stuff that we haven't tried before.

Plus a bottle of champagne to toast my Sister-in-Law and her hubby who are due to arrive very shortly to collect their keys from us to their new home, a 2 bed seafront apartment on the The Esplanade at Knott End. They will move in permanently on Monday.

To get a nice Tahini sauce you have to mix first in a bowl the raw pure Tahini with a lot of fresh squeezed lemon juice (250 gr Tahini, 7-8 tbsp juice), add 1 tsp sea salt, chopped garlic (1-2 cloves) Needs a good stir. Now you add plenty native olive oil ( 1/2 cup or more) and mix it until it is really smooth. Ready.
This is the way good Restaurants in Nicosia prepare their tahini, unlike most places in Paphos which just open a huge tub of commercial stuff they serve as Tahini.  In the fridge you can keep that at least 2 weeks... καλή όρεξη ( kalí órexi )

Thanks Max, we've tried to get the mix right in the past - many years ago but we shall have another go.
In UK we cannot find the ready prepared taxinisalata that we could buy in Cyprus. So, we will try your recipe :-)

The consistence when ready is much more like a paste not like a runny yogurt....

Slightly of topic, but what is the cost of champagne in Lidl at the moment?

Good morning! I assume it is a ready paste to consume straight away... More advanced would be this recipe Lebanese style:

Nice pics with it and ideas, for example together with Avocado (one of my favorite)... :)

Thank you! I googled it and got lots of bumf about a wifi protocol that relies on microwaves, or something. Your reply makes a lot more sense. :)

Yeah, I googled as well with no avail. But what knows someone who is "not stepping in this place" (Lidl) about availability of goods they sell there. OK Lidl is a German owned company, this could be a reason for somebody with anti-German feelings. :!:
Good thing at Lidl's is when there are really good offers (50% down etc) they are mostly available, unlimited numbers, unlike other markets like Paps where a good offer is mostly out of stock or only allowed a few items to buy.
Example: I bought 10 bags of Dog food 2 weeks ago (50%) or yesterday 60 l UHT milk per liter 49 c. And most important: special offers are not with soon expiring consumption date like in other places. By the way I shop in Lidl TOTK since they opened a couple of years ago every Saturday and as a result I know what I am talking about... :D

Unfortunately the BOGOF's at Pap's have to be Exactly the same product.. You cannot get a box of strawberry ice cream and a vanilla one... It has to be two of the same flavour.

Dominic like me you spend too much time clicking instead of activating the best computer you have... ;) WIGIG..just like TOTK...only for those of you who actually shop or go sightseeing.

Rather warm out there, the beach was full of pink to red tourist's this morning.
