I received today my electricity bill for the month December and January and was a little bit surprised that my consumption of electricity was so much more than last year. (11.12.24-11.02.25)
Obviously, due to the very cold night temperatures since more than one week at my place I had to run the air-cons all day AND night in order to keep me warm enough. (my place is 440 m sea level and very exposed to wind and the house is very poor thermally insulated.)
Last year, the same two winter month, I had the air-cons for heating only on during the day, while at night I switched them off when I went to bed.
So the result was that my consumption of electricity went up from 380 kW/h to 700 kW/h also due to the fact that air-cons which are a type of heat pump, working less efficient in colder temperatures and consume more electricity.
However, thanks to my photo-voltaic modules on the roof together with the net-metering system my bill was only 12 Euros higher than last year.
So I am very glad that my PV system, installed by Green Air Paphos, years ago, produces still perfect electricity, I exported even more kW/h this period to the grid than last year with all these sunny days we had in January.

Re: Higher electricity consumption these winter month...
This cold wind coming from the mountains was all day long at my place as well, and even with no clouds and full sunshine the lunchtime temperature did not reach 9 C. So no sunbath today for me. However there was also something positive: reading my electricity production, it was the highest result so far this year with 5 kWh/per installed one kWp photovoltaic modules, due to the cold temperatures and wind. So hopefully the forecast is correct and the weekend is much warmer and I can enjoy the sun again....
