All about carobs... nearly

Today's article in the local press tells us a lot about carobs. However at least 2 things are missing: carob wood is the no 1 wood for Cypriots, when it comes to fire wood in winter with a lovely smell while burning. Second, you will get a fine if you are cutting carob trees without license.

For me, the smell of carob trees always takes me right back to my childhood in Malta, where we had these trees around our school grounds and other places we regularly went to. We used to climb and sit on the branches.

There was a lovely little carob museum in Anogyra where you could also buy many goods, but sadly it looks like it's closed now.

Yes, the small museum in Anogyra was a lovely place to visit and buy some carob sweets. Sorry to hear it might be closed.

For many many years our carobs are collected by the same family after the official date of 15th of August.
