Too true! In my opinion, hydrogen must never be used to drive vehicles. Just ask the widows of the men who die as a consequence of hydrogen explosions every year. In the case of a private car, it should be deemed safe even in an accident. The problem is that nobody can foresee what is likely to happen in accidents.

Imagine hydrogen cars going mainstream. In the UK, that would mean tens of millions of cars over time. In Cyprus, maybe 200,000. I'm not talking about the one in a thousand accidents but one in 10,000. The totally unforeseen accident by definition means that it could happen, that it could be foreseen – perhaps!

It would require only a few accidents due to hydrogen for it to get a bad press. I predict that this is almost sure to happen. Ergo, stop thinking about hydrogen to propel private vehicles. I, for one, would never buy one such vehicle and I sincerely hope that they are dead ducks before they hatch.

Technology is moving on, and whilst there will always be accidents some of the ones you quote are obviously human error, and you cannot legislate for that

Regarding Electric Cars there is an interesting fact that there are, in China alone 7 electric car fires. a day, that's 2500 a year I wouldn't like to take my

Fun fact..

Every year in the UK, over 100,000 cars which equates to nearly 300 a day go up in flames and around 100 people die as a result. Around 65% of these fires are started deliberately to cover criminal activity, to make a fraudulent insurance claim or as an act of vandalism. One in 12 reported stolen vehicles will be burnt out.

That’s the problem with interesting facts .. often taken out of context they can appear large and scary..

I haven’t seen the figures for china but I’d be surprised if there were more EV fires than ICE fires.

I have just looked at Devil's Wikipedia list again and if you ignore The Hindenberg too long ago, and the Challenger, a very individual case, the information given shows 8 deaths in 24 years. Much safer than crossing the road

You certainly can't blame Challenger on Hydrogen. That was down to management ignoring the advice of their own experts.
