Covid Pass Help!

I know we rarely have to show a Covid Pass now but we have always used a printed version along with our vaccination card.
We are going on holiday shortly so I thought I would download the Pass app to my phone.
It has downloaded ok but when I try to access, it asks me to log in using my biometric credential & a pin number & I have no idea what this means!
Any help gratefully received.

Hi, all you have to do is enter your code which unlocks your phone.This can be either
biometric (finger print), or any pin number you use to unlock your phone.
