Police probe Kili community council break-in

Post by memory man »

Paphos police investigating the theft of a safe from the community council of Kili have found the vehicle used by the perpetrators, the Cyprus News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Paphos police spokesman Michalis Nicolaou told the news agency that investigations were being carried out at the premises as well as at the location where the vehicle was found.

Nicolaou said that the community council secretary had filed a complaint with police on Monday that between April 29 and May 2, the council’s offices had been broken into. The burglars took a safe that contained cheques and €981 in cash. They then took the keys of the double cabin pick-up worth €9000 that were in the offices, loaded the safe on to it and drove off.

The offices were not equipped with CCTV or an alarm system, Nicolaou said adding that the burglars had gained access breaking in through the main door.

The car was found in a ravine near Mesogi later on Monday morning. It had sustained considerable damage. Paphos police CID are continuing their investigation.

This reminds me of a robbery in the UK many years ago. The thieves first stole a couple of shotguns to use in the robbery and sawed off the barrels. The robbery was foiled and they left with nothing. They abandoned the guns, which turned out to be antiques that would have been worth a fortune undamaged.

About twenty odd years ago a mask robber entered a Bank in Larnaca, armed with a gun, he demanded fifty two thousand pounds ( I think that was the amount) he then left the shaking lady behind the counter and walked out,
The next day an unemployed man walks into the same Bank and asks to pay his loan off, the figure, yes I kid you not, fifty two thousand pound, if this wasn't the thickest robber in the History of the World then I would like to hear who was.
this is not a joke, it really happened,
