Earthquake

Post by Tremigirl »

Did anyone else feel the earthquake at about 6.00pm today.
My husband was outside and said the ground shock and rumbled and I was inside and heard a rumbling like a big lorry going by or someone pushing a very heavy wheelbarrow.

Sounds as if whatever happened it must have been fairly minor...
I was out for a walk then near Chloraka and felt or heard nothing!

Sitting outside in Zelemenos we heard five sonic boom like sounds which rattled the patio doors around 6pm.

Four EuroFighter returned to their base at Akrotiri which were responsible for the earthquake-like tremors...

here a Google translation from PaphosPress:

According to exclusive and cross-referenced information of PafosPress, the earthquake-like vibration and the buzz that was heard mainly in Paphos around 17:45 in the afternoon and which caused disturbance throughout the Province are due to a flight of aircraft returning to Cyprus and specifically to Cape Limassol.

According to the same information, a group of four Eurofighter aircraft were returning to their base at the British Bases, where they have been stationed since mid-February.

The four Eurofighters arrived in Cyprus on the night of February 21, strengthening a wider NATO presence in Eastern Europe, while a relevant video of their arrival on the island was released (See below)

As we are able to know at this time no other activity has been observed nor has any explosion or seismic activity been recorded as previously stated in a relevant announcement by the Cyprus Geological Survey Department (READ HERE).

However, what can not be done at the moment is to have any official information from competent Departments and Services since in order to do so, the flight plan must be checked and if the aircraft on their return to Cyprus flew at a relatively low

A similar phenomenon as reported by PafosPress readers has occurred in the recent past.

What is the Eurofighter Typhoon?

The Eurofighter Typhoon is a 4.5 generation, European-made fighter aircraft. It is an all-weather, multi-role aircraft manufactured by the Eurofighter consortium. Typhoon is one of the most advanced examples of work of the European aerospace and defense industry, and serves in the air forces of 6 countries.
