Knighthoods are given out like confetti nowadays, no big deal.
As for Hamilton getting a Knighthood, my personal opinion is, if you choose to live in Monaco, so to avoid paying UK taxes, you forfeit any chance of getting a Knighthood.... Knighthoods should be for people who give lifelong service to British people without any thought of monetary gain, not for people just out to profit for themselves.

And not a penny to the British tax system, and as for kerbing racism, tell that to the thousands of black people working their socks off in the NHS, doing the sh*tiest jobs, for minimum wages, they are the ones who should be getting knight hoods, not Billionaire brats like Hamilton..

Bravo! Somebody should tell it like it is. I see from the photograph after the investiture that recent events have not wiped the smile off his face. In principle, I think the "honours" system is good but only if the recipients deserve it by a lifetime devotion of unpaid (or nearly so) work benefiting their human colleagues. I see little merit in driving a car or punting a football. (I'll make an exception to the latter if the recipient has been helping handicapped children to understand the game – please notice my use of the word "game", rather than "sport".)

Don't you dare accuse me of racism, I don't watch F1, so Hamilton isn't much of an interest to me, I was replying to another post, which mentioned Hamilton's interest in Race issues, and I mentioned him not paying a penny in UK taxes, unlike the Black NHS staff, who do pay tax on their minimum wages, I said they should be getting Knighthoods not him, that also goes for White tax dodgers, being British when it suits them,

Black or white everybody pays their taxes, why should NHS staff black or white get Knighthoods they are only doing their jobs, although I have the greatest respect for them all,you were implying only black NHS staff pay tax,I wasn't directly calling you a racist just you're post sounded a bit racist,if you are going to moan about Hamilton then you should include all the thousands of others black and white who do not pay their taxes

Try reading what I actually SAID, QUOTE I said they should be getting Knighthoods not him, that also goes for White tax dodgers, being British when it suits them, I also said, the NHS staff, deserve a knight hood before, NON TAX PAYING Billionaire sports celebrity's like Hamilton.

WHL,
I wonder why you describe Hamilton as a "Billionaire Brat"?
He was recently voted as one of the top 100 influential persons in the world. His efforts to combat racism in sport are well known, he himself learnt martial arts to protect himself against racist bullies whilst at school.
He is a very interesting chap who has constantly achieved exceptional results in a very dangerous and cut-throat sport.
You would do well to find out facts about people rather than slagging them off for effect.

I agree, feeling that some honours are given away too easily. I believe those who get them should have done something exceptional and in the public good to have earned public recognition.
Young sports stars seem to acquire them too early in their careers. This change may have come about with the huge reductions in the numbers in our armed forces. Some members of our services got gongs for their exceptional service in the defence of their country. Often this involved risking their lives to carry out essential tasks in the line of duty.
Not just for beating other sportsmen at their chosen sport.
Maybe there should be separate awards for devotion to sport? Especially if they get paid to take part and get time off work...
Exceptions to this are the people who do real good for the disabled and disadvantaged people.

Read it in the context of the whole post, no where did I say only black people pay tax.... getting a bit fed up , trying to explain to you what I wrote, you seem to be the only person on here , who doesn't get what Im saying, basically , Hamilton doesn't pay a cent into the UK, but is happy to pick up knighthoods, yet hardworking NHS staff on minimum wages pay into the UK, and do a much needed job, rather then drive round a track earning hundreds of millions a year

Quote from old Bernie ecclestone in the express , not my words.

But Ecclestone, who built F1 into the billion-dollar sport it is today, believes Hamilton has not done enough for the United Kingdom to be deemed worthy of a knighthood.
'Only people who have really done something for the country should be knighted,' the 91-year-old told German broadcaster n-tv, according to The Express.

Further news on Lewis,he DOES Pay tax in UK,he DOES support several charities in UK and elsewhere,he is not a billionaire and certainly not a spoiled brat, but quite a levelled headed person, just because certain people don't like him it's no reason to slag him off with lies, look at the honours lists over the last few years and several sports people have been honoured
