Gesy beneficiaries can now book specialist appointments online

Post by memory man »

The state health services organisation (Okypy) has officially launched its new revamped website on Thursday designed to facilitate the procedure of booking medical appointments online.

The website – which can be accessed at https://shso.org.cy/ – features a dedicated section where users can book their appointment choosing from the over 800 doctors registered with Okypy.

People wishing to book an appointment are requested to fill an online form providing their full name, date of birth, ID number, telephone number and email address, as well as a note specifying whether the appointment is a first visit or a follow-up visit and the reason why they need to see a doctor.

People requesting an appointment also need to have already obtained a referral from their personal doctor, which must be registered in the Gesy system.

No longer than 48 hours after submitting the request, an Okypy representative working at the same hospital as the chosen doctor, will contact the patient by phone.

Furthermore, Okypy also announced that patients can now pay for their appointments by credit or debit card directly at the hospitals’ dedicated payment desks.

“Digital transformation, continuous modernisation and a general upgrade of our services are top priority for us, and the recent changes are the result of a long-term strategic plan implanted to ensure that everyone has access to high quality medical care,” an Okypy statement said.

It’s a shame that this has been launched with a single language option unlike when the GESY portal first went live. Even with a smattering of Greek after 4 years of classes, I’d be a bit wary of relying on online translations for something like this, Google translate for example is generally very good but created some hilarious mistranslations - often the individual words are correct but when combined side by side they can mean something completely different in practice. I guess how much of an issue that could be will depend on the depth of the system.

Hopefully multi language is in the development pipeline.
