U.K. Isolation

Hi folks I am supposed to be flying back to UK with Ryan air to Liverpool 18 July ( not holding my breath),does anybody know the score about self isolating over there,I presume it's still Ten days,somebody told me you have to stay in a hotel?,I have somewhere to stay by myself for ten days anyway,have had both jabs the last one several weeks ago,have looked on gov websites but can't anything positive there,will have my covid tests next week,any info gratefully recieved!,thanks

I am travelling from the UK to Cyprus tomorrow, so have been checking the current requirements for entering back into the UK in a couple of weeks time.

Cyprus is currently in the UK list of Amber countries which means that anybody entering from these countries must follow these rules.

1. Must have proof of a negative Covid test taken 3 days before travel to UK.
2. Must complete a UK Passenger Location Form online prior to arrival into UK, which must include a booking reference number as proof of pre paid Covid tests to be taken after arrival on day 2 and day 8 (or an alternative test to release on day 5)
3. Must self isolate at a given address for 10 days on arrival in UK and provide a contact number so you can be checked on during your self isolation, It carries a large fine if you are found to be breaking the rules.

Is it worth it?

It seems a bit of an overkill, if arriving from Cyprus having completed 2 vaccinations with a recognised Covid 19 vaccine. I have my hospital vaccination card, plus my European vaccination passport. I will have had a PCR test 72 hrs before flight and am required to have booked 2 more in the UK on my 2nd and 8th days. It is just added expense to have an optional extra one on 5th day. Then a third on 8th day.. And then to waste 10days of holiday kicking my heels in my apartment..
Boris meanwhile will be allowing UK based Brits to return virtually to normal, no social distancing and mask wearing optional.. So,probably UK cases will increase considerably... the UK papers today seem to think it is madness...

Tomorrow night, Grant Shaps will announce that double-vaccinated coming into the UK from Amber list countries, will not have to isolate…. I’d imagine from the middle of July

I read somewhere that it will only be for UK residents

The key word seems to be "returning" (as opposed to simply "coming in")

The exemption to Isolating is only for those that have had the NHS Vaccinations, so just tourists returning from an amber list country. I suspect it a bit immaterial given the state of play in Cyprus and the real possibility of it being placed on the UK Red list very soon.

We're not all tourists! Some of us own property in UK. I haven't been able to live in my flat since Jan last year! As soon as British IT holiday makers stop traveling to Cyprus, most of the budget airlines stop flying here. Unfortunately, the only direct flight Paphos to Bristol is operated by EasyJet. They have a habit of immediately cancelling their flight there each time the UK stops people from the UK traveling.
Many of us have several vouchers from EJ from these canceled flights which we had booked.
I'm now very reluctant to book a flight to UK with them.
