Water Leak - Who to call?

Post by Dominic »

We seem to have a water leak coming from under our house...reasonably sure it is in the mains and not the drains. Does anyone know a company that does inspection and repair?

We plan on visiting the Muktar. Hydrojet only do drains, unfortunately.

Try calling the waterboard could be in front of the house seeping underneath, they will take a look , if it is from the meter to your house, then give your insurance a call, they will send someone to repair.

It's definitely our end. The leak only seems to happen when water is drawn through the system.

Then your insurance should cover the repair, best to notify them and get the ball rolling, we had a burst pipe and they were able to by pass the original pipe without to much damage being done

It is a puzzle that it only seems to leak when water is drawn through the system. The pipes are full all the time ?

But good luck in getting it sorted..

Yes the only reason I realised there was a leak was because the ground in one area was squechy. So I scraped the gravel back and lifted up the black plastic weed thing, and it was damp. The next day there was a small pool there, so I did a bit of digging and soon worked out the water was coming from beneath the house. It was clear and didn't smell of shit, so I knew it wasn't waste. I shall call the insurers on monday and visit the Muktar's office.

We are of course keeping an eye on the water meter and while it is using more water than normal, we aren't in the hundreds / thousands of euros territory yet so I have obviously spotted it on or near the outset.

I think there is a much more gradual leak at all times, but you can see it very clearly when water has been drawn. I have dug a small trench and when the relevent people have looked at the leak I shall be able to connect the trench to the pool, and take the water to another part of the garden I have just planted some hedges in, so it won't be a total loss.

Vince 99598118 had all the equipment to detect underground leaks . He did a great job for a friend. Only thing is it was a couple of years ago and I dont know if he is still around. But well worth a try. I seem to remember it was sometimes a little difficult to get through to him so give it a few tries. He was very professional.

Vince is still around. I am currently using him. He even has a new van! He will find it. He specialises in underground water works and the big developers use him but, he has full books so, you might have to wait!

Vince wasn't interested, and must be pretty well booked, as he thought Polemi too far from Tsada to be worth his time.

The situation is being managed at the moment, as the leak doesn't happen if we turn it off at the stop cock. I've had to do a lot of exploratory digging to find pipes etc, but it is a lot easier when there isn't an active leak. We will be visited by a chap called Andreas (the name is not much help, as half the people I have spoken to about the leak seem to be called Andreas) who was recommended on a forum and by the Muktars office. If he can't handle it we will be getting Green Air up here.

Pity it didnt work out with Vince. I see you have a couple of options lined up . Lets hope they turn up trumps.

The only other suggestion I have is Ehab. Ehab is well known in the Tala area and is a respected Syrian builder. Whats more he has a extensive network of contacts and if he cant help he will almost certainly know someone who can. I cant locate his phone number, at the moment, but I am sure there will be plenty of people on the forum who know him if you want to go down that route.

Good luck.
