Google Translate works perfectly well for the originating post but not for the reply from Lincoln. although it does offer an alternative German text which then translates well enough too - so maybe Lincoln's German isn't as good as he thought ;-)

However, I still couldn't understand why the text on the original post was provided in German.... seemed a bit odd being as we're all past friends from a previous life.

You have to love the buffer zone - if only for those old cars stuck there since 1974....

A bit like this time warp from a village on the outskirts of Limassol in Erimi village:

But I reckon these two, pre-date 1974 :-)

I thought everybody speaks at least 4 European languages? This is really quite basic and does not require lots of imagination does it?
(This happend to be on my Swiss newspaper today - could not be bothered to translate, sorry).

I understood it well enough...... I had to deal with translations from 22 different European languages in my past job.
But I always loved to put the language translations through Google, mostly just for a giggle because it comes up with some marvelous solutions sometimes. But also to check if they came back literally translated word for word into the English text we sent out to our translators - that was never a good sign!

The best we had was a Russian translation which inserted the word Kalashnikov into a phrase which mentioned shooting fish in a barrel :-)
