Paphos Shipwrecks

Post by PaphosAL »

Out of historical interest, are they all still there? The one off Venus Beach Hotel since 1988 (I think, but stand to be corrected) and the newer arrival off Sea Caves??

Update someone, please! Cheers- AL :?:

Yep, still there. Ask Jim nicely and I'm sure he'll show you lots of pics!

Get in there soon because the one off the Venus Beach Hotel is breaking up & the other one can be bought for circa 5m if you have the petty cash available!

Crikey, Lincoln- that's a stunning shot m8!!!

Did a Bing search for more info and found this little nugget:

http://www.cyprusandmore.com/2011/12/wr ... es-paphos/

Looks like it is consigned to the same fate as the shipwreck off Venus Beach back around 1988, when (apparently) the WHOLE crew were down in the galley, watching Football on Cyprus telly, with nobody up on the bridge noticing that the ship was drifting onto the rocks, doh....

Cheers- AL

That fantastic photo was taken by Paff Taff Ray on CL several years ago.

The last I saw, the Cyprus authorities were using the Venus Beach shipwreck as a platform for Air / Sea Rescue training missions, fair play to them!

Helicopter landings on wreck, boats out to wreck, co-ordinated training! AL :)
