I understand that it was firstly identified in the UK. It did not originate here according to sources but in Brazil where it was detected back in the summer.
Ticking away, the moments that make up a dull day.

I heard that it was first identified in Germany in November, brought in from America.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

Apparently, It was also in Italy way before the UK had it so it seems that a few countries knew about it and had it but didn’t shout about it from the treetops like the UK did!

Indeed. Sir Patrick Vallance was waiting on tests on its DNA as it is suspected that it has altered its ability to attach.Happy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 6:43 pm It's the South African one which is the real naughty boy; Matt Hancock concerned that the vaccine may not be effective against it.

Where does that come from? So far I´ve only heard that it´s more contagious but that there is no reason to think the vaccine wouldn´t work for it. Do you have a link?Diocletian wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 12:25 pmIndeed. There are more than 1700 known variants of the virus and so far, according to 3 German virologists (Profs. Kekulé, Drosten and Ulrichs) there is no reason to assume that the biontech vaccine won´t work for this one as well. Can only give a reference to Prof. Ulrichs statement (in German anyway and link will probably need a vpn connection to Germany): https://www.n-tv.de/mediathek/videos/pa ... 67357.html
