Refuted insurance claim

has anyone insured their villa with Top Quotes using 'Insure My Villa' insurers and had an insurance claim refuted? We only found out last week that the insurers do not have a loss adjuster either in the country or not able to visit within a week of the claim being made.

I did make a claim for lightning damage a few years back with "Insure My Villa". They did pay up in the end but were less than happy about it! The next year or two, my policy was very heavily loaded in that it was probably not worth making the claim. "Insure My Villa" have very cheap premiums compared to others. I would only claim again in the event of a major loss as the increase in premium is not worth making a small claim.

I wouldn't say that the premiums are cheap they have gone up every year for the last 4 years, I think its back to Atlantic this year. The fact that the insurers have no loss adjuster in the country or at least one that could visit within a couple of days is the worrying factor.

I hade a claim with insure my villa, it was handled very well and they used a loss adjuster called Ellis May Loss Adjusters , who I think are UK based but they instructed a Cyprus loss adjuster called Letayer I think.

We had a claim with Insure My Villa purchased through Topquotes. I have nothing good to say about this insurance company. The claim was handled disgracefully and entirely to their advantage. The main part of the claim was offered as an amount on a retailer charge card. When I objected and said I would prefer cash they agreed to give us the choice subject to a discount of around a third.

When our renewal came they required extra locks to be fitted to all doors and windows. Our original burglary claim had entry through a smashed window. They did not care and insisted on the locks. Needless to say I no longer insure with them. I also severed our long relationship with Topquotes due to the way they failed to help with this and a previous motoring claim and some very questionable statements they made.

So far the have been of no help at all and I'm very disappointed as all they have done is sent on our emails sent to them to 'Insure my Villa' re the claim which to my mind is lazy on their part.

It would appear from the correspondence that 'Insure My Villa' is not too helpful then which insurance company on the island can people recommend ?
