Note this bit:

"He also said supermarkets and shops will serve only vulnerable groups between 8am and 9am."

And they start tomorrow, for two weeks.

"The above measures, regulated by a Decree of the Minister of Health that will be issued within the day, enter into force from tomorrow, October 18, 2020, and for a period of two weeks, ie until November 2, 2020 ."

Not before time. This vulnerable group is the only one likely to pay for infection with their lives whilst other age groups appear to be the main source of the present increase in infections. If this measure is inconvenient for the latter the answer is to abide by the rest of the measures and then this measure will slowly become unnecessary.

I must admit to being a member of a vulnerable group.

Maybe I worded my post wrongly... I was trying to say that some people will claim to be in the vulnerable group in able to shop between 8 and 9..

Sounds a good idea to me, and giving us 'oldies' a time before 9am worked very well during the lockdown. But is this measure just for Limassol, or is it to be applied island wide?

Trev, you may well be right, but let's hope that you're not!

Just returned from the main Papantoniou in town - notice by customer services desk states vulnerable shoppers and age 60+ only before 9 am.

Islandwide measures are as follows:

Individuals are permitted to attend gatherings in households and public meeting areas not exceeding 10 people, including underage children.

Places of worships can only have a maximum of 75 people.

Official sports fixtures must be conducted without spectators.

The maximum number of persons allowed to be served in catering establishments is set at 75 for indoor spaces and 150 for outdoor spaces.

Cinemas, theatres and event halls are allowed a maximum 50% of capacity.

Cocktail parties and receptions at weddings and christenings are banned.

A physical presence is only allowed at lunch or dinner, with a maximum number of 350 sitting down to eat.

Vulnerable groups and anyone aged 60 or over have priority in at supermarkets and visits to the pharmacy between 8-9 am.

These measures begin on 18 October until the 2 November.

Jeepers, 350 sitting down to eat would take an awful lot of space to accommodate?

I went to Alphamega by the highway roundabout this morning and the shopping hours for the vulnerable group are Monday - Saturday 07:00 to 09:00.
