Coronavirus: Disabled people forgotten by the state, NGO says.
The chairman of the Cyprus Confederation of Organisations of the Disabled (KYSOA) Christakis Nicolaides claims very little has been done by the government............https://cyprus-mail.com/2020/04/04/coro ... -ngo-says/
The present Rules do not allow a vulnerable disabled person to shop between 7 & 10am accompanied by their (younger than 60yr old) carer. The Manager of LIDL (ToK) confirmed.

Perhaps they think differently to me! "Vulnerable" in my eyes means anyone with a disability and that follows some of them will have carers.

Mike, I feel sure that they do! When the special shopping hours for people over 65 started, it was stated that the disabled could use them too.But by all means check this there were a couple of Nicosia Govt call lines phone numbers given in one of the BHC emails. Their purpose is for the public to use to ask any questions about the new measures which are part of the ‘lock down’.

Why does a disabled person need to go to the shop when they have a carer who can do the shopping?
Also assuming the disabled person is vulnerable surely they should not be out and putting themselves more at risk.

The disabled person will give them the money beforehand.

I am officially disabled but do not have a carer. My disability allows me to do my own shopping, albeit with some difficulty. Do not think that a disabled person must be in a wheelchair or have a dog.

Nobody thinks that Devil. But this thread is talking about disabled people with carers.

Many people including disabled people have not got cash at home to give to anyone to do the shopping for them... They probably have a bank card they can use, or go to the ATM..
Either way they need to go out with the card

Simple, on one day, go to the ATM, and get enough money to last for a couple of weeks.
The next day, give some of the money to the carer, so they can do shopping for you.

Why go out twice.. Just give some money to the Carer whist at the ATM... Call at a supermarket and just the carer goes in for the shopping .

That works for me too. The point is, there is no need for the disabled person to go to the shop with the carer.

It depends on whether you want the carer to come out of the shop with what you wanted. Remember Greek or English isn't usually their first language. Giving a credit card to a carer will involve a PIN.

Re: Coronavirus: Disabled people forgotten by the state, NGO says.
As mentioned in the last few posts. You Don't give the carer the card or PIN.. You call at the ATM and the Disabled person withdraws cash for the carer to shop with

Like I said, you don't get what you asked the carer to get for you; often people are on special diets and cannot just eat whatever is bought! Look, I & another have experienced this problem, so I do know what the problem is, & as is usually the case in Cyprus, disabilities are more often than not, ignored!
Re: Coronavirus: Disabled people forgotten by the state, NGO says.
It isn't complicated. You already have the stuff you need in your house, so you show the carer what they need to get. If needs be, get them to photograph the packaging so that they can see exactly what is needed.
