It would be more useful and perhaps understandable if the article detailed his specific complaints.Paphos Life wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2017 9:36 am Polis mayor Yiotis Papachristofi has announced that members of his community are protesting what he says is the neglect of the government when it comes to the wellbeing of the coastal resort....

From what I have seen of Polis it is no more "abandoned" than anywhere else.

Geoff.

Yes, I'm not sure, but he seemed to be wanting to develop more golf courses.

Yiotis owns a Supermarket and Jewellery shop at Latchi >30 years back.
He is a nice bloke but also likes his business and since Paps arrived in Polis it is
difficult not only for him to run a Supermarket.

Re: Polis mayor: Government has abandoned us
very nice said Hudswell...
The saga with the golf courses goes on since nearly 20 years.
I used to search in the old mining area for minerals, (Amethyst, Mountain crystals, Pyrite), the deep hole
was fascinating before they filled it in with slag from the big hills near the beach. Sure tourists would come
to look for gold or silver if it was proper organized.
(by the way: next to the mine are several neolithic settlements not excavated yet. I showed the Gov in Nicosia my photos
which gave proof of that and more than 100 stone tools I found from this period - no money!! They asked me to sponsor
it and then they would eventually excavate....

I like the Polis Campsite as it is, to be honest. I love the Eucalyptus trees, and the lazy feeling. Mind you, it is normally fairly empty, though we did once turn up to the beach to find the entire campsite packed to the rafters.

Wow... 36 hole!
And the island to me seems already to be swimming in under-used golf courses.
I hope this drags on for another 20 years. Probably after some EU funding!
