Voting in the UK Election - Advice from High Commissioner

Post by Dominic »

Overseas UK Nationals can register to vote in the UK General Election planned for 12 December provided that they were registered to vote in the UK within the previous 15 years.

- if you want to vote by post the Registration Office must receive your postal vote by 17:00 on 26 November
- if you want to vote by proxy, the Registration Office must receive the proxy vote application by 17:00 on 4 December

For those that don’t have Facebook, there is guidance here: https://www.gov.uk/voting-when-abroad?f ... _I0zCSPLhc

The Leicester Registration dept at LCC, do not recommend postal voting. They say that once nominations for candidates closes they have a short time to prepare & print the voting papers. They must then stuff envelopes to send overseas. By the time the Cy postal service puts the envelope in your box it leaves too short a time for sending back. Use Proxy voting as the only sure way to make your vote count.
