airlines! Does booking direct cost more?????

I,ve just been on line checking our future flight plans and booking DIRECT with the airline costs more ( $600 or so ) than booking with an online booking agency.Am I going wrong somewhere:?

If your booking airline tickets online make sure you delete your cookies before you go back to the site.
They are known to track you and adjust the prices!

Its right HIC I have double checked,and so has the wife ( who of course is never wrong )
