Spring is here - first time swallows drinking from pool...
Today is the first time this year that I realized that swallows
are diving towards my pool to get some water. Just adjusted the pH...,
I hope they like it.

Mre Emgee's Ladies Group went to Limassol recently to see the Flamingoes and the ornithologist accompanying them was surprised to see Swallows and Swifts present. He said that Spring has arrived.

Re: Spring is here - first time swallows drinking from pool...
Yaaayyyyy! Summer is a coming in! Although have to say that winter - even with my €576 leccie bill, using my electric heaters instead of calor gas heater to minimise the condensation and mound - has been pretty bearable!!!
Tried to get Georgi in the pool today - " no way Nana, it has to be 30' for at least 2 weeks before I go in"

you better switch to air con to reduce your high "leccie" bills and reduce the
humidity in the same moment....
If you pay 576 Euro in 2 month you should consider to invest in net-metering to produce your own electricity
from the sun with panels on your roof....

Net metering not really an issue at my age I'm afraid! Even if I had the capital, which I don't!!
All other options require capital outlay. My current ac units are not adequate for use as
heating. Calor gas is a no no due to condensation and mould. Electric heaters as on current bill totally out of the equation. Only other option I can see is log burner. But would that solve the condensation problems throughout the house, or would the bedrooms still have the same probkems with condensation and mould???
Aaaagghgghhh!!!

I had also problems with damp and mildew under the wardrobes. 2012 I built myself
an array of so called solar AIR collectors as they were not available in Cyprus and the
German ones are very expensive (one panel 1200 euro + transport) These panels which look
like the ones on everybody's house roof heat up very quickly (within minutes) and a built-in
12v fan blows hot DRY (0% humidity) air into the building. The fans run by a small PV panel which
means only when the Sun is shining they work. (no Sun no air circulating, very simple...)
Since I have installed the units my humidity in the house is now well below 50%, mildew vanished and
the room temperature ascends 10-15C higher then without the system. (depending the outdoor temperature and sunshine)
At the moment the temperature of air blowing into the house 9am is just below 60C.(outdoor 12C)
Very soon I have to cover up the panels, otherwise system will overheat >70C and the fans won't cope with it.

Many thanks Lloyd and Cyprusmax. Looks like I may have to bite the bullet on a log burner before next winter! Cheers mates

Very helpful in the short term but I'm out 10th Big Al 18th, we need a longer term forecast and I agree with HIC Wunderground seems to be the most accurate when it comes to longer range.Dominic wrote: ↑Sun Mar 05, 2017 9:22 pmOr alternatively, just use the Weather section in Paphos Life.Happy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Sun Mar 05, 2017 12:19 pm Big Al, keep this in your Favourites: https://www.wunderground.com/weather-fo ... aphos.html

My favorite is still Accu Weather with less mistakes in the past 5 years.

I don't think there is such a thing as an accurate, specific, long range forecast. By specific, I mean for a particular location. You can predict now with some certainty that it will be hot in Cyprus in July. However, you cannot predict with any hope of being accurate, that it will rain in Polemi on the 12th July.
