Thinking of visiting UK? Check your currency....

Post by PhotoLady »

The plastic Fiver is now well and truly with us but it's not particularly well liked because once it has been folded up, you can't get it to lie flat again 😔

But soon the old Fivers will disappear and new Tenners are also on their way so don't hoard your UK notes for too long!

New coins coming too...

If you're planning a trip to UK in the coming year - take note:

Two months ago we visited the UK.. So Because we needed some cash when we arrived there I got a few hundred UK ponds from a kiosk at Paphos. However when we tried to spend the 50 pound notes they were out of date, ie old ones. I had to go to a bank and get them exchanged..

Trev, can you explain that a bit clearer to this old man. My £50.00 notes have no dates on them. Just wondered how old yours were.

And here's a reference for Withdrawn Banknotes, it may stop some of you falling foul like Trev did:

Thanks for that folks! I usually come back from Uk with a few notes to see me through taxis orwhatever I might need before getting to a cash machine on my next trip. Had already checked my fivers, but nowt else, so thanks for the heads up ;)
