I think you may be right about the job being money orientated for some George. One of the girls who nursed my husband in Nicosia told me that she used to be a media reporter and when I suggested that she must have taken a drop in salary she said not and that she was much better off nursing. I have to say that she was an excellent nurse however as they all were on that oncology ward and very caring. The male nurses used to joke with my husband to help him cope. The only fault we could find with that Hospital was that they allowed smoking on the balconies outside,in fact patients receiving chemo would push their trolleys onto the balcony for a fag! There were signs everywhere for No Smoking but of course the cypriots ignored them and the staff seemed unable to uphold the rules

I'm sorry for the people involved being filmed without their consent, of course this shouldn't have happened, but as I have seen the video, I feel that it could have been edited just to show the lack of staff, and their uncaring attitude. When staff finally did appear they only did so to answer the phone, NOT to care for their patients. If this video has the desired effect, it's the best thing that could have happened.

Having a lot of 'inpatient' experience in Paphos General, it was on the whole dirty in all areas, with the exception of the theatres. Patient care was usually left to family, and friends in my case. Visiting hours were totally ignored, with family and friends talking over a blaring TV day and night. Nursing staff were good and bad, and in some cases the total lack of basic hygiene and infection prevention displayed by some staff, was to a frightening level.

It won't be long before videos such as this appear showing the problems of staffing levels in the NHS, and if so, good, it's the shake up the Health Authorities here need.

There are two issues here. One is that people are referring to a deterioration in the quality of care at Paphos General and the other is whether or not the video should have been posted.

With the second issue you have to bear in mind that it is an offence in Cyprus to film or photograph people without their consent and, if people complain to the police, they will take action and may well prosecute.

Those people who have dash-cams in their cars should be aware that you can be prosecuted for publishing film or images that they have captured if anyone who features has not given their express consent.

That is one of the reasons why, if you wish to have a licensed drone operator take footage of a wedding at a hotel here, the hotel has to advise all guests that they may be filmed and give them the opportunity to object. I am not saying that happens, but those are the rules here and we all need to be very careful when publishing images which people could object to.

Band, are you able to give a link to this ruling you mention... here must be many public gatherings that are filmed such as the Paphos Carnival etc..

I was under the impression that the use of video footage cannot be used in a criminal case in Cyprus - unless the person gave prior consent.

Other than that, there are guidelines about photography but mainly dependent on where (ie premises - public or private) and is relevant to most countries. However, I noticed on the Wiki Commons page, Cyprus is not listed at all!
