I think there will be a few providers here in Cyprus, having sleepless nights.

Morning.

I doubt they will, the streams here come from all parts of the world, not just the UK, and without these ''offenders'' what TV would be available here? not a lot as Sky is no longer available here though satellite, so whose fault is that Sky, I happily paid for their overpriced TV system here for many years, many of us who actually live here depend on decent TV system, many of us would happily pay for a legal decent streaming service as would many expats all over the world, the TV companies are the ones missing out, so down to them I feel.

With respect do you read what you post, only last year Cyprus Police arrested many people , who provide UK tv streaming for payment, it doesn't matter where the streams come from, the people here are Illegally selling these streams, only a matter of time before these providers, who openly advertise , will get their collars felt, my advice for expats paying for these services is to pay for a month at a time, that way you will not lose to much cash, when they get shut down.

For how many decades have authorities been trying to crack down on drug dealing (pun not intended) and jailing dealers? Yet drug dealing is as prevalent now as it ever was.

The genie is out of the bottle with regard to iptv and as soon as one provider gets taken down, another moves in to take his place.
Agree I cant see it stopping, but the jail sentences dished out, took this to another level, the TV companies like Sky, will see this as the benchmark now, and if I was a provider selling knock off streams, it will make me think again if a long sentence was waiting, Cyprus cracked down last year , because they were showing Greek football matches, and Nova Sports Greece who has the rights, jumped on the Cyprus authorities to close them down, as I said your best bet is not to buy from Suppliers here in Cyprus, rather buy of the web,

I was told they streamed local Cypriot and Greek TV, I doubt very much they are interested in expat TV, except the scaremongers here. Hudswell and you just love it!! Probably true, I believe at least one of you stream UKTV just as illegal, no excuses just because you use another streamer or a PC..

Wrong WHL it was from Greece they were pulled over for streaming, obviously, you have forgotten, also why are you worried about all this? have you nothing positive to moan about? instead of just scaremongering all the time, sit back and enjoy your free TV, but again if it is the BBC ITV then it is streaming protected and I do know how to get this on my computers as you obviously do. Why do you two you never say who or what you get your free to view TV? and where do you pay your UK TV license, or perhaps you don't.

Granville, I do get it !! thankfully and very happy to pay for the services we get, it is dodgy yes but then again so is the one you use, do not think free to view here in Cy is free, because you do not pay for a TV license, your no different to the majority of us, it is illegally streamed just as the majority is, now go sit on your sofa and watch the same illegal programs as we do, if your way of getting UKTV was legal most of us would be with you, but we know different don't we.

You really post some rubbish on here, the cyprus Police arrested People in Cyprus for Streaming Greece channel Nova Sports, try getting it right for once,
posting what actually happened is not scaremongering, ..
you really should try finding out some facts, before posting, rather then making yourself look Clueless.

Isn’t it a strange legal system in the U.K, where you can serve less time for robbery, assault, rape or even murder, than stealing from large companies?

You could be a serial violent robber and get less time. But rob a bank or sky, in this case and they’ll throw the book at you....

Just admit it, whatever stream you use is illegal, god knows what it is funding - drugs, people trafficking or perhaps the scruffy flat and the 10 year old Punto you are trying to convince yourself it does. This is global big business and will involve organised crime.
Take the Kodi streams, the business model is the streaming site holds no content and offloads to a file hosting service, sounds innocuous, the file hoster is file hosting illegal content (like Megaupload -now defunct, in the news some years ago - remember Kim Dot-Com. Not just movies, software, porn (of all types, how do you think it gets about), you name it) they deny it, but why else would you pay to use one (they offer premium content), One Drive, Google Drive etc are all free, if you want more there are premium versions and other legit sites. The uploaders of said content are paid for the uploads, god knows who they are, I have seen on my web travels that some of these people are earning thousand of dollars doing this, now I agree it may be just to feed the family in a 3rd world slum, but you cannot guarantee it.
I read years ago or it was on a course I went on, can't remember, that one of the streaming sites was estimated at making $2million a year, this is not just a few ex-pats on a dusty island, it is global. I would anticipate that with a greater risk the file hoster is making more.
These places are riddled with virus's and malware, take software, the software is mostly a genuine file with a crack, hack or key generator - the infection route is to use the crack, hack or key gen, which will require you to suspend the AV. Yep, people run a hack, the AV finds it, so to get the prize they switch the AV off and run it again.
I would imagine the nearest you would get to legit is using something like NowTV - that gives you Sky, buy a TV licence at a UK address, and a VPN that supports streaming from a company based in a 5 eyes country, so for the EU, the nearest would be the UK, the level of surveillance in a 5 eyes country makes it an unlikely choice for a really dodgy VPN, if it logs, even better. (I always wondered if that is what Raab mentioned to Barnier, Barnier looked shaken after the meeting, then May took over from him immediately, our ace card has always been security, she gave it away without asking. I would just love to know.). Then you will probably just be breaking a term of the contract you have with NowTV and creating another friends and family job at the BBC. To be honest I don't loose any sleep over that. I know plenty of expats that have a UK licence for their not so often used property in the UK, what would be so wrong in allowing them access via iPlayer, with a proper logon gateway, like Netflix, your licence number could prove your entitlement. Hardly difficult, even I could do that, I am a hobby level programmer - so why not.
I agree that the BBC is missing a trick, it should offer a payment gateway, same as the license. I think the Trust Fund Trotsky's have some free to the masses ideal, which everyone else, including the masses, pays for.

Anyway. This goes round and round and circles. If you are watching British TV in any way shape or form in Cyprus you are doing it illegally. Possibly. Who cares? I'm locking this thread because it has already been done to death countless times before.
