We went to buy some Orinos Teak Classic paint last week, to be told that there were problems getting the correct solvent to go in the paint so in the meantime there is only a water based product available which the manager said we could put on top of the Classic. However, having Google'd this, it appears that this is not a good idea as the water based product will not adhere properly to the solvent based paint unless the wood is completely stripped down.
I phoned the head office and they confirmed the situation but said the Classic should be available maybe in a month. The lady also confirmed that there were no stocks of Classic on the island.
Can anyone advise of their experience using an alternative solvent based paint, maybe Sadolin? We've booked someone to paint our fences very soon so we need to source a suitable paint.
Thanks in advance
Orinos Teak Classic not available
Re: Orinos Teak Classic not available
Sadolin was the original name for Orinos oil based wood stain. Chemopel do an oil based wood stain but it is similar to the Orinos Extra, a varnish finish, as opposed to the classic which is just a Matt stain. They sell it in One Stop.

Re: Orinos Teak Classic not available
I was told a couple of years ago that Orinos were stopping the importation of Sadolin and switching to their own product. This is typical of Cyprus when they import a good product and after a while they manage to clone it. I guess that there is more profit to selling a locally made product. But personally I would buy Sadolin again if it is available.
It seems to last a long time and I used to use it on our teak outdoor furniture,
