The latest rock contains also scalenohedral (dog-tooth) calcite crystals https://www.google.com/search?q=scaleno ... OMZp1-iiM: on a Quartz crystals matrix! I encountered this co-existense again in the past. The most important thing about the presence of calcite, is that the area you spotted has a large capacity on Quartz (in comparison to other areas that only Quartz is present)!

In case you are interested, i created a webpage (still under construction), solely devoted to Cyprus minerals, and i now i am incorporating a Blog Section with info on the locality, way of extraction and identification of crystals!

Thank you George for your comments. As there is only a very limited interest here on the forum for the beautiful crystals one can find on this Island I wasn't bothered to post more photos, even when I have hundred's more of them.

You could be right that on the last rock pic you can see calcite crystals. Also pic no 4 & 5 showing some calcite on the edge with different shape to the blue one's.

It looks like a small vain of calcite appears from the right side of this rock....here another close up (snipping, that's why less quality !)

I wasn't happy with the last photo which is too blurred. So here another better shot from the piece which came off when I hit this rock...where one can see how the "teeth" look which suppose to be calcite. The size of one tooth is ca 6 mm so I think it is a well done macro pic now..

Hehe i can tell that you are quite passionate with photography Max! My pics on the other hand are always blurry

Yes, it is definitely scalenohedral calcite (surfaces are similar to scalenohedral triangle of mathematics)! Here is one i collected last year in Mathiatis area (Nicosia)!

George I like quality photography and it is one of many hobbies I have. To search and find nice crystals etc is the one thing but to photograph them perfectly and store them in my gallery makes the whole hobby only then complete. Of course it is not easy when you are holding a piece in one hand and try to get a good shot with the other hand, NOT to be blurry... I could not do it, as my camera weighs 700 gr and I am anyhow too shaky when I am in a dither. On the other hand I like to do things to perfection or leave it completely. I am certainly not a jack-of-all-trades (My English is another story though)

Thanks again that you confirmed that the teeth are calcite... I will come back to you soon with more questions for other rocks I found recently.

Thanks Max! It is nice to love something and put your best on it! And it is true that to exhibit the beauty of a piece of rock needs a photo-talent, that in my case is completely absent

It would be nice to demonstrate your findings though!! I would be very glad to see them so please keep these posts!! I understand about the interest though... but you will surely have my views and comments every time
