New ATM in Polemi..
New ATM in Polemi..
I noticed in recent days that there is a new independent ATM machine in front of the council offices.
Does anyone know how much it cost to withdraw money from this machine with a BOC card ??

Re: New ATM in Polemi..
This really rankles. I object to being charged to get my hands on MY money!

I will just have to remember to get cash from a BoC branch when out and about. I can see more and more people (Cypriots too) using debit cards in the future, even for relatively small purchases. It's either that, or stuff the mattress again!

Maybe somebody will start up a cash-back scheme ...

One of the problems is, parking at the BOC branches in Paphos. It is usually chaotic..
It would be good if one or some of the supermarkets did start doing Cashback..

Uncle D, the date in the letters we got was Friday 22nd February.
Kay - Expect a withdrawal fee of €2.50 minimum. The company that operates them is only doing it to make money, not part of a wider service, and will use fees and crap exchange rates to do so as that’s how they make money from that segment of their business. It’s a US company I wouldn’t be surprised if a number of the machines here now are from the U.K. as they not making much money there according to my ex bank colleagues back in U.K.
The banks, and many retailers, are all keen for card payments, contactless or otherwise, to increase - handling cash is expensive. I appreciate this machine is last resort for many, but personally I wouldn’t touch it with a very long barge pole, so will be careful to check how much cash we have and need every time we are in Paphos.
I had heard a rumour that Katerina’s was going to do cash back, but no idea if that’s true or not.
I really hope BoC launch mobile banking unit that visits many villages, for some it could end being more convenient than having to rely on others to get them to Polemi,or other towns. Hellenic launched such a service last autumn, and I think launched a second unit last month

Letters.... you got letters !!! I wondered why all the banks customers were not informed. I called this morning and yes, the branch is shut. I went to the one on Polis road, and after struggling to park found a queue of 12 to 15 people.. I came out and went to the branch on the rad to Chloraka . Same struggle parking but only two people in the queue.. This is the branch I will probably use in the future when I need to go into the bank..

For BoC my preferred branch is Coral Bay. Can be a few minutes wait inside but the ATM is usually only 1 or 2 people deep. Once the tourists arrive that may change however.
