Damp Problems

Post by Iris 2 »

Morning

Any recommendations for someone who can assist with damp problems? The he main issue is with 2 balconies that are flaking underneath. We’ve had them both repaired in case it was just cosmetic but the problem is back!

We’re in Kissonerga if that helps.

Regards

Thanks for the reply’s chaps - unfortunately we already have the lip under the balcony so i think it may end up being a bigger and expensive job...especially given that we have quite a few ‘bubbles’ low down outside.

I really don’t know where to start!

Cheers

Most of the problems that I have come across with balconies is that they were never sealed properly before the tiles went down. Over the years the grout breaks down allowing water through. There can also be an issue with the skirting as they just sit on the tiles with nothing underneath and water can track through. I would firstly seal around the skirting to see if that helps if not the tiles really need to come up.

No, don;t take the tiles up. Go to Home Market & get some clear sealer to apply over the whole area of the balcony & yes use a sealant first where the tiles meet the skirting/upstand.
