Overnight rain has helped clear the air of the dust clouds that had settled over Cyprus over the last few days. Residents woke to find a fresh layer of dust on their cars, but clear skies. This was in contrast to the previous days where dust had blown in from Africa.

Definitely, last nights rain did the job as it is also a very clear view towards Troodos now....distance to Mt.Olympos ca. 35 km...

What rain? None here. No dust, either. The wind has stopped blowing from the SSE, bringing the Saharan dust and, since yesterday evening, it is now in the NW quarter, hence no dust. The wind direction is more important than the rain to clear the atmosphere.

Devil, you aren't in Paphos, so both wind, rain and dust levels will be quite different for you.
We know the rain got rid of the dust, because it washed it into our pool, car and driveway. The wind didn't do that.

Not so sure, the dust had already largely settled because there was a pause in the wind between ~01:00 and ~08:00 (maybe an hour or so earlier in Paphos) as it veered from ~SSW (dusty) to NE (clean). It depends when your rain fell. We had the dust settle here as well, without rain.
On a different tack, have you noticed the we have not had a day of wall-to-wall sunshine for weeks? There has always been some cloud.
