Villa in Konia

Post by STELIOSBWFC »

We tend to book a villa at Limnaria end(16 years in this area and universal) and have this year thought we would move away from the resort and see how life is in a village and get an idea of how the locals live(Our main aim is to pack up in 5 or 6 years and move over) I know Konia from passing on the A6 and going to Alpha mega but do not know if the village has any good places to eat.
Any feedback will be great negative or positive.
Thanks John.

That'll be Konia Tavern, it moved from out of the village to the main road. No others that I know of, there are two in Anavargos but have not been to either in years

Konia is not the place to find out how Cypriot village life actually is. Very expensive and popular with Cypriot newly wealthy and Paphian business people. New housing built everywhere. The only bank there closed (Coop) and even the hairdresser moved away from the "center". There is sometimes in the evening kleftiko available but that's it. Next to the place where the Coop bank was, there is a tiny place where a few expats having a drink Saturday's afternoon... Next place to get a variety of taverns is Yeroskipou then, 2 km down the hill...and shopping? Forget it, you can go to the kiosk at the main road and get some koupes, they are nice though..

Thanks HIC Max and Flossie. I have visited many villages that you have said I had just seen this place to rent in Konia and have never called in to the village and wanted to know if they had a few tavernas in it. We always set out in car for our evening meal and it goes straight to Costas at Koloni. But info is great thanks have a nice day.

We used to go to Konia Tavern for their meze, before Costas opened. We reckoned at the time it was the best meze in Paphos. Might be worth giving it a try. As Lloyd said, there are lots of good places to eat in Kouklia (Gabriels is our favourite,) Mandria and of course your favourite, Costas. We have recently eaten at Perismo, on the airport road at Timi, and found this excellent.

Stelios, sad to here that one of my childhood heroes, Peter Thomson, ex Preston Liverpool and Bolton winger died at the end of December.
I went to his testimonial at Bolton, just after we had won the European Cup for the first time, and Bolton had been promoted into the 1st division.

Kathiikas has always been our place we would love to live when we move over. A few years ago we checked the place out and the little bar just before the square was lovely a little alcove to enjoy a beer and so cool from the heat. I was told by a local person in the village that if I buy make sure it is insulated as it gets cold in the winter.
