Meter reading advice

Post by ast »

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.
The current situation is that EAC come and read the meter and send us a bill via e mail, we then pay online and everyone is happy, we have done this for years no problem.
I want to put up two gates at the side of my house, they will be locked gates.
These gates will prevent access to the cupboard were the electricity meter is housed so the meter reader will not be able to read the meter when we are not in, does this cause an issue other than we will be issued with estimated bills.
I have looked on the EAC website and appears it is not an issue as you can submit your own readings or you get estimated bills, does anyone have a similar situation. 8-)
I started off with nothing and have most of it left !

We have exactly the same situation, simply call on 800 06000 every two months. Our official meter reading date according to Maria at the EAC is the 20th so I just call on the 20th every 2 months. If you want to be precise, check your official date with EAC or you can work out the approach date form your bills. Because we have net metering and therefore two readings to provide, the automated system can’t handle that, so it kicks out of the AVR to speak to someone to give them the numbers, never been on hold more than about 6 minutes.

You will need to have a bill to hand when you call to key in the 10 digit premises number for your property over the phone.

Simples.
