Central heating repairs

Post by glowred »

Unfortunately our boiler has stopped working, does anyone know an engineer who is actually working at the moment as I have tried 4 different people all of whom are not working until the new year. Thanks Neil

Does your boiler have a digital readout with a reference number connected to a list of faults in a boiler handbook?

Could be low water pressure in the system or, if it is a LPG system, possibly an air blockage in the fuel line. Both are easy to resolve.

If your installation is gas (LPG) and was done according to the law, you will have a safety valve where the gas comes in. Even a <1 sec electricity cut will trigger it and stop your heating. The valve in question is a black device with a clunky hexagonal brass part below it. Unscrew the latter and you will see a stud. Press it upwards and this will get the gas flowing. If the boiler does not then start by itself, press the restart button. It may take a few minutes before hot water circulates.
