New Rocks from Cyprus

Post by ph06kg1 »

Good evening to all!

New rocks fresly digged out from the cypriot soil; thought sharing some with you! All findings come from Marki area in Nicosia, except from the Natrolite crystals, that were also freshly collected in Avdellero village, Larnaka. Enjoy!

That is my favorite so long. I was searching for months for a piece like that, but fortunately it was under my feet all that time! Sometines, heulandite can be found alone, so does stilbite, but this time.. they joined forces :)

The before/after the cleaning process. Quite a difference...

Thank you all, George K.

Can you take a picture of what the crystal looks like before cleaning please, so I can see a comparison?

Obviously you can't in retrospect. But for a future one it would be useful.

Hi Dominic, ofcourse, maybe next time i ll do a complete blog involving the ground extraction process! I already put a comparison pic in this blog! But, if you want i have 2 more photos of the dirty crystals that i can send to you! But.. i think i dont have the cleaned version.

Basically, when extracted they are completely covered in soil; i understand if it is a crystal in three distinct ways:

1. If it is extracted from a vein; it is surely a crystal!
2. By touch; if it is a crystal surface it will have angles, or planar surfaces; plus it shines a bit when placed in the sun (you can see in the last photo the crystal planar surface emerging already)!
3. By instinct

Regards, George.

That's another thing. Can you use bigger pictures? You are shrinking them way smaller than they need to be. An image can be 1024 pixels wide or high, and up to 256k in size.

I would love to see bigger pictures, especially of that final before and after shot. :)

If you want to do a guest blog, send me the pictures you want to use and accompanying text, and I will assemble it for you.

Hi Dominic, i thought all pictures together should sum up to 256k! Either way, it only lets me upload 5 pics per blog! I will send them to you by email Dominic, (full versions, not compressed ones) can you please arrange them properly? (I wiill number them properly from 1 to 5)

That would be a perfect idea, for the guest blog! I always... run out of space hehe :)
