Kingfisher

One of the most beautiful birds on the island, often heard but not so easily seen despite its vivid colouring. There are 3 or 4 around the harbour area and the headland but this male bird was at Zakaki marshes where he obligingly sat on an artificial perch for a few seconds before disappearing!

Sometimes when I am swimming out as far as the breakwaters at Riccos Beach there is one perched for ages on the rocks...they are so beautiful.
