Hi folks, we have a problem at the Paphiakos Bookshop in Tremithousa. Lesley, the lovely lady who makes the preserves we sell, is really struggling to get fruit etc. at the right price. Guess it's due to the lack of rain, meaning the price of produce increases!
I know many of you have trees in your gardens, or have very generous neighbours who pass fruit and veg to you. Could I please ask any of you who have surplus products - for whatever reason - could you donate them to us?? It would be so appreciated, at this moment we have no preserves whatsoever in the shop!!
If you could leave them at the shop in Tremithousa - a few hundred yards down from the traffic lights at the Polis/Mesoghi junction, opposite the school - one of us will happily collect them and pass them to Lesley. We would be so grateful.
The things she needs are -
Bitter oranges, when ripe!!
Lemons
Tomatoes
Onions
Red peppers
These are the staples of most jams and chutneys, but anything would be gratefully received!!
Dominic - any chance this could be stickied for a few days please???
Fruit etc required urgently!!
Re: Fruit etc required urgently!!
Don't know if that's due to the lack of rain Austin7 but I do remember the warnings some weeks ago from the farmers that there would be shortages of fruit and veg.
Re: Fruit etc required urgently!!
Not totally sure Lloyd, but there were many warnngs from the farmers that there would be problems in sourcing local produce later in the year. Guess the time may have come??? Price is the leveller for most of us I would think, which of course is Lesley'problem with the preserves for the shop. If ingredients are available- they are at a price! And perhaps not a price buyers are prepared to pay!
