As an outside observer I can´t help wondering why the Brexit secretary resigned after the draft divorce agreement was made available for cabinet. I´d think there wasn´t that much of a surprise for him - given that he was in charge of negotiating it. What am I missing here?

You are not missing anything - He has quickly decided to distance himself from the outcome (which is an outcome he negotiated ) Because he can see what is going to happen next.

Regardless of what happens, I felt May was outstanding in parliament today, for over 3 hours, with a full grasp of the proposed settlement, and under severe pressure.

Her Speach tonight demonstrated her doggedness and spirit.

It doesn't matter who led the country, they would be on there way out by now........she is a stayer.

It sickened me that the proposal was rejected before it was even released, self interest has been evident throughout the whole process.

I am full of admiration for her dignity, and grasp of the key issues, she is an unusual politician, honest and principled.

I agree there are no winners – But from various sources it appears she has not delivered on most of the key issues that she said she would – It seems we will still be attached to Europe in the worst possible ways – So maybe Mogg’s Hard Brexit would have been a better option – Walk straight out no deals suffer the blows and get on with it – Because it seems now that we are well and truly shafted. And if the Government collapses which it is sure to do at some point soon then we are in big trouble.

The main issue is the NI border, that can't be solved, hard or soft Brexit.

You are absolutely correct the NI border is a major problem but only because the Government has not got the bottle to say you will have a hard Border like every other country outside the European Union. At the end of the day there are Hard borders all around the European Union so what makes Ireland/Northern Ireland any different. My single vote would not have made one iota of difference to the outcome. Cyprus has been my home for nearly 14 years and I have no interest whatsoever in voting in UK general elections or referendums, though I still have an interest in what goes on.

2 points! Firstly, you didn't know prior to the vote that the outcome would be that close, in fact it was forecast that the remain campaign would win easily. And secondly, by implication what you are saying is that if 100% of the electorate had voted then the result would still have been to leave the EU because every extra vote for remain would be countered by an extra vote for leave?

Now I fail to see how a Hard Brexit can be avoided.

If there is a light at the end of the tunnel it's very weak and the tunnel is very long.

There are only three possible outcomes:

1) Exit With Current Withdrawal Agreement
2) Exit Without Current Withdrawal Agreement
3) Remain


Outcome 1: Looks like it won't be approved by Parliament.
Outcome 2: Definitely won't be approved by Parliament.
Outcome 3: More than 50% of voters will not be disappointed also the EU.
